Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Honora is operated by Honora Development. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Honora app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what is needed to deliver a calm, premium listening experience.
By creating an account or using Honora, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we store your email address, a securely hashed password, your display name, and a unique account identifier. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information your Google account exposes (typically email and name) — we do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
Listening and library data. To resume where you left off and to keep your library in sync, we store your listening progress per book, the books you save, and the moments you mark.
Anonymous playback analytics. We record a small set of internal product events tied to your account identifier so we can understand which books are being listened to and improve the experience. Event types include:
- A book was started
- A chapter was completed
- A book was completed
- A book was replayed
- Meaningful listening time
We do not collect microphone, location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any cross-app tracking data.
Information stored only on your device. Downloaded audio files, the streaming cache, and your app preferences (such as notification settings and download options) live locally on your iPhone and are not transmitted to us.
Technical logs. Like most internet services, our infrastructure provider receives standard request metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) when your device communicates with our servers. This is used for security and abuse prevention, not for advertising.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Provide the core Honora experience — playback, library, and resume-where-you-left-off
- Send you in-app and push notifications you have opted into
- Understand which content resonates so we can curate the catalog
- Respond to support requests you send us
- Protect Honora against abuse and comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or to train AI models.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers (“processors”) to operate Honora:
- Supabase — our backend, authentication, and database provider. Stores your account, listening data, and playback analytics.
- Google Sign-In — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Apple Push Notification service — only if you opt in to push notifications.
These providers process your data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments. We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of Honora and its users.
5. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your account and listening data are stored on infrastructure operated by Supabase. Depending on the region your project is hosted in, data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the European Union or the United States. When data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by our processors (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your account and listening data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete it as described in Section 8. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics may be retained for product analysis even after individual records have been removed.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information (for example, your display name or email)
- Delete your account and the personal data tied to it
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave (such as notifications)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority
You can change your display name and email inside Edit Profile, manage notification preferences in Settings, and delete your account from Profile → Delete Account. For anything else, contact us at support@honorastudio.com.
8. Account Deletion
When you delete your account from inside the app, we:
- Permanently remove your account record and authentication identities from our servers
- Remove your listening progress, saved books, and saved moments from our servers
- Disconnect any linked sign-in providers (such as Google)
- Erase your downloads, audio cache, listening data, saved moments, and per-account preferences from this device
Deletion is final and cannot be undone. Audio you previously downloaded is removed from your device as part of the cleanup. Aggregated analytics that are no longer tied to your identity may persist.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. Passwords are stored only in hashed form. Account-deletion and email-change flows include confirmation steps designed to prevent unauthorized changes. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Children’s Privacy
Honora is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app. Continued use of Honora after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact Us
